Message I have done some ceramic coatings done...

Was tossing up between Thermal Dispersant and Cermakrome (silver insulating coating) for the plennum and went with Cermakrome. I figured that the TD is essentially a heat exchange coating, and the Cermakrome is a barrier coating.

One of the guys on aus300 did took some temperature readings under the hood, and accross six points came back with an average temp (in Celsius) of 69.5* at 30* ambient. Going off the dyno sheet from a power tune my intake temps are 32* at 22*ambient temps after a full noise run.

So based on the above I came to the conclusion that air in the plenum is cooler than the surrounding air, making the cermakrome barrier coating the obvious choice.

It looks good too. You can see it does not have the same shine as chrome and not quite as deep a mirror as polished alloy but still looks good. If I was doing it again I would have just coated everything ceramic. Cost wise it is no more expensive than chrome and certainly alot cheaper than getting a show polish.

So I have done all the intake piping in the engine bay as well as upper and lower plennums in cermakrome. The intercooler and any IC piping in front of the radiator has been done in the TD coating to take advantage of cool air flow through the nose cone.

I don't think TD on a plennum is good advice.

You can see the TD coating on the IC in this pic, note this was before I had the piping in the nosecone done in TD as well. Again a bonus with the TD is it looks great, much stealthier than a polished FMIC and piping.

I have yet to do another power run since getting the coatings done but daily driving indicates the temps are staying quite low (below ambient at times) even in traffic. This is using info from the in cabin ambient air temp display and the intake temp display on my power FC hand controller.
